Welcome to LOM de Wignacourt! As president of this LOM, I look forward to a very active year and hope to see great enthusiasm in most of the members. Throughout 2009, LOM de Wignacourt will focus on organizing quality cultural, social-political and community projects. Thus, we once again invite all existing and potential members to share in its success in organizing these projects. Through your support, interests, ideas and expectations we will fulfill the vision and direction of JCI. Junior Chamber is an organization of numerous lifelong learning opportunities. It offers challenges and allows for creativity and initiative of its members. This depends on your willingness to identify and pursue these opportunities. JCI is an organization that supports the philosophy of learning by doing. It contributes to prepare better leaders, who will create better societies through positive change. We have great plans for the forthcoming year. The flagship project for our LOM is the The Outstanding Young Person Award (TOYP) held in the last quarter of the year. This award will recognize a young Maltese citizen, aged between 18 and 40, for a major accomplishment or achievement. The national award winner will be nominated for JCI’s worldwide TOYP program, which is held in conjunction with JCI’s World Congress. The winner for 2008 was Dr. Ing. Nicholas Sammut. During the summer time, we hold another yearly project, the Summer Barbecue. Furthermore, other minor events are being planned. These include cultural activities, sports activities such as football tournament, abseiling and diving, and other activities which complement the other activities organized by the LOM de la Vallette, the training and international sections of JCI Malta.
